Athletic injuries have always been a major problem in any sport. But there are many ways to lower the chances of people getting hurt. To begin with, One way to lower the chances of getting an injury is to strengthen muscles. Increasing the limits of load-bearing and stress capacity will help decrease injury risk and increase performance. Building a strong foundation for your muscles supports the joints, tendons, and bones.” This is evidence to show that if people build up their muscles they would be able to prevent more injuries. Moreover, another great way to prevent injuries is to warm up and cool down. According to Mayoclinic.org, it stated in its article, Warming up helps prepare your body for aerobic activity. A warm-up gradually revs up your cardiovascular system by raising your body temperature and increasing blood flow to your muscles. Warming up may also help reduce muscle soreness and lessen your risk of injury. Cooling down after your workout allows for a gradual recovery of pre-exercise heart rate and blood pressure. Cooling down may be most important for competitive endurance athletes, such as marathoners because it helps regulate blood flow.” Warming up and cooling down can be so crucial and can make a difference from becoming injured to not being injured. Overall if people follow those steps and also focus on working on muscle building they will be able to prevent significantly more injuries.
